Southwest Expansion: 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport

For 2013, Hyundai expands the Santa Fe brand from one model to two. The third generation of the popular crossover debuts with a two-row, five-passenger model, as well as a long wheelbase, seven-passenger version. The latter will arrive in showrooms in early 2013; the former — known as the Sport model — is available now, and is offered in front wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions.

Rocket, Refined: 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S

All cars are evaluated against their competition. But, certain, iconic cars - like the Porsche 911 - are also viewed through the prism of their past. A new-to-Ram V-6, an updated Hemi V-8 and a brandy-new 8-speed automatic transmission highlight the 2013 pickup models. The former, 3.7 V-6 has been replaced with a 3.6 litre V-6, rated at 305 horsepower and 269 lb. ft. of torque.

This used to be the party line of the old school guys when it came to high performance cars. The idea was that when it comes to fast cars, nothing beats a big motor for getting it done. (Full disclosure: I have been accused of being old school. I don't deny it, mainly because these are the only occasions when my name and education are mentioned in the same sentence).
