Luxury Meets Technology: 2013 Cadillac XTS

Cadillac’s transformation continues. Gone from the lineup is the DTS, and with it the last of the company’s former generation of full-size luxury sedans. Assuming the flagship role is the XTS. The styling of the four-door sedan shows another variation of Cadillac’s “Arts and Science” design language.

The latest addition to the Camaro lineup is the ZL1 Convertible. The top-ranging ragtop carries some impressive credentials. It’s the fastest, most powerful Camaro convertible ever. That claim covers a lot of ground. The car’s first generation included some with engines whose straight-line performance was hair-raising.

Mustang’s last major makeover was in 2005, followed by a full refresh in 2010. In 2011, Mustang news was mainly about motor matters. The car received a new 3.7 liter V-6 and GT models got a new, 5.0 liter V-8.

Southwest Expansion: 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport

For 2013, Hyundai expands the Santa Fe brand from one model to two. The third generation of the popular crossover debuts with a two-row, five-passenger model, as well as a long wheelbase, seven-passenger version. The latter will arrive in showrooms in early 2013; the former — known as the Sport model — is available now, and is offered in front wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions.

All cars are evaluated against their competition. But, certain, iconic cars - like the Porsche 911 - are also viewed through the prism of their past. It’s a long past, in the case of the 911, which was introduced almost 50 years ago. The 2012 Carrera S is (along with the Carrera and Cabriolet) the first of the 911’s seventh generation. More power and better MPGs — that’s the headline for the latest, Ram pickup lineup. A new-to-Ram V-6, an updated Hemi V-8 and a brandy-new 8-speed automatic transmission highlight the 2013 pickup models. The former, 3.7 V-6 has been replaced with a 3.6 litre V-6, rated at 305 horsepower and 269 lb. ft. of torque.
